IRS holding direct-hire event for Ogden facility at Davis Conference Center
LAYTON — The Internal Revenue Service is holding a direct hiring event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday to fill more than 300 vacancies at the Ogden service center.
Emanating from the the Davis Conference Center — located at 1651 N. 700 West in Layton — the two-day event will serve to fill entry-level clerk and tax examiner positions.
“A direct hiring event means the IRS has authority to hire qualified individuals on the spot, which makes this a great event because a qualified candidate can leave knowing they have a job,” IRS spokesperson Jeanne Rohrer explained in an email to the Standard-Examiner.
Priority consideration will be given to job seekers who registered and applied to the online job posting at https://www.usajobs.gov/job/824339300/ before the event. No prior tax experience is required for consideration; the IRS will provide training to those who are offered and accept jobs. However, early applicants will have a leg up in the hiring process.
“If applicants register, pre-apply and make an appointment, they can expect to be interviewed by hiring managers at that allocated interview time. If a person is offered a job and accepts it, they will be able to complete fingerprinting onsite. For planning purposes, that could take an additional two to three hours,” Rohrer wrote.
Clerks and tax examiners perform a variety of administrative tasks and duties associated with tax administration, according to the hiring event announcement. Duties vary based on position and may include identifying and reviewing forms, preparing inventory reports, reviewing filed material, transcribing taxpayer documents, responding to taxpayer correspondence, resolving account issues and/or reviewing tax returns for errors/missing information.
The starting hourly wages for these positions range from $16.95 to $18.96 per hour, or $35,373 to $39,576 yearly.
“The IRS offers competitive wages, exceptional benefits, career development, advancement opportunities and it’s meaningful work,” Rohrer added.
