Ogden City seeking public’s help for improving area parks
OGDEN — The people of Ogden have a chance to improve their parks.
Just before Christmas, the city’s Facebook page posted links to a survey to “help shape the future of Ogden’s parks.”
“We’re conducting a public survey to better understand how our parks are used and how we can improve them for all Ogden residents,” the Facebook post reads. “Your feedback is critical in shaping the future of our community’s outdoor spaces!”
He added that the survey will measure several components of the area’s parks and what people think of them.
“We are inviting all residents and other stakeholders to complete a short survey about park usage, amenities and future improvements,” he said. “The survey includes questions covering topics such as park accessibility, maintenance, recreational programming and future park needs. Whether you visit parks frequently or only occasionally, your input is valuable.”
The survey goes through parameters, asking users how often they utilize area parks, which ones, safety and their assessment of accessibility.
McBride said the city has seen great success when it asks citizens what improvements they’d like to see.
“Most recently was the very successful survey campaign supporting Ogden’s General Plan update,” he said. “Thousands of residents participated and the result was healthy sampling from all of Ogden, and from a diverse group of people. The results will be shared in the coming months as the general plan recommendation is presented to council for adoption.”
He said that, following this survey, J-U-B will assess the results and identify gaps in amenities and other areas for the city to consider when planning for the future of the area’s various parks.
The survey is available for people to take through Jan. 31.
