Ogden man dies of gunshot wound on Saturday

OGDEN — A 45-year-old man is dead as a result of wounds suffered from a gunshot over the weekend.

Per a news release from the Ogden City Police Department, officers responded to the 2800 block of Childs Avenue at approximately 3:58 a.m. Saturday morning following a report of a gunshot wound.

The victim was said to have been in “critical condition” when responding officers located him on the scene. However, life-saving efforts ultimately proved unsuccessful.

“Officers and Ogden Fire Medical personnel provided medical assistance and transported him to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the individual succumbed to his injuries,” the release stated.

According to the release, the Weber County Homicide Task Force has been activated and an investigation of the death is ongoing.

Preliminary findings indicate that this was an isolated incident. Police say there’s no known threat to the public at this time.

The victim’s identity has not been released by police. OPD’s Lt. Will Farr told the Standard-Examiner on Monday that no additional information could be provided at this time.

“We sincerely thank the medical personnel, the Weber County Homicide Task Force, Weber County Crime Scene Investigation and our community partners for their prompt response and dedicated efforts during this difficult time,” the release read.
