Sunday Drive: Luxury meets family practicality in the 2025 Infiniti QX60 Luxe AWD
After a wonderful fall week with the 2025 Infiniti QX60 Luxe AWD, we found that Infiniti’s latest iteration of their popular three-row luxury SUV was great at blending style, comfort and technology with today’s modern family in mind.
Being one of the most sought-after models in the Infiniti lineup, the QX60 has consistently catered to families looking for premium features and a luxurious driving experience without having to step into the ultra-premium price bracket.
Exterior design: Timeless elegance with modern flair
At first glance, the QX60 impressed us with its sleek and modern exterior. Infiniti’s design philosophy of “powerful elegance” shined through with the wide stance, bold grille and sweeping lines that defined the SUV’s profile.
The 20-inch alloy wheels and chrome accents on the Luxe trim complemented its premium looks, while the distinctive LED headlights and taillights added just a touch of modern sophistication.
The panoramic moonroof, a standard feature on the Luxe trim, not only brightened up the cabin but also enhanced the QX60’s already upscale presence. Overall, the exterior design was a well-balanced combination of sophistication and athleticism, making it what we would consider one of the most attractive SUVs in its segment.
Performance: Smooth and confident
Under the hood, the Infiniti QX60 is powered by a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine, which is the world’s first mass-produced variable compression engine, that delivered a respectable 268 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque.
Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the engine provided smooth acceleration with consistent power delivery, making highway driving and city cruising equally enjoyable. Infiniti has tuned this engine to prioritize comfort over aggressive sportiness, meaning the QX60 is more about smooth, quiet operation rather than just raw speed.
The all-wheel-drive (AWD) system in the Luxe trim added a layer of confidence and would be especially useful in adverse weather conditions that will come to the Wasatch Front. The QX60’s ground clearance would also prove adequate for light off-road use or gravel paths, though it was clear that the vehicle is designed primarily for our on-road comfort.
The ride quality was one of the big highlights of the QX60. Thanks to its well-tuned suspension, the SUV glided over most road imperfections, giving us a smooth and comfortable ride.
The handling was extremely responsive but not overly sporty, which we loved for going back and forth to work and our other daily activities.
Interior: Luxury meets family functionality
Every time we got inside the QX60 Luxe, it was immediately apparent that Infiniti had gone to great lengths to make the cabin feel like a premium space. High-quality materials were used throughout, with soft-touch surfaces, leather seating and real wood trim being all part of the mix.
The leather-appointed seats were both supportive and luxurious, offering power adjustments for the driver and front passenger. We have always said that Nissan has some of the best seats in the business. The front seats are also heated and ventilated, perfect for Utah’s diverse climate.
The second row had plenty of room; however, the third row would be best suited for children or shorter trips. The sliding second-row seats provided decent flexibility for getting adults in and out when necessary.
Cargo space in the QX60 proved generous, with 14.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row and up to 75.4 cubic feet with both the second and third rows folded flat. The power liftgate made accessing the cargo area a breeze, and there was also additional under-floor storage in the back for keeping smaller items secure.
Technology: Cutting-edge features for modern drivers
Infiniti had packed the 2025 QX60 Luxe AWD with a range of advanced technology features to keep us connected, entertained and safe. The centerpiece of the dashboard is the 12.3-inch touch-screen infotainment system, which was intuitive and easy to navigate. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, allowing us seamless smartphone integration.
The Luxe trim also came with a wireless charging pad, multiple USB ports and a premium Bose 17-speaker sound system that provided crystal-clear audio quality.
Infiniti’s InTouch navigation system was also availed to provide real-time traffic updates and turn-by-turn directions, making it easier to plan long trips or navigate through unfamiliar areas. The QX60 also featured a 360-degree camera system with parking sensors, making parking this large SUV much less daunting.
Safety: Comprehensive driver-assistance features
Safety is always a priority in any of the vehicles that we test drive, and the 2025 Infiniti QX60 did not disappoint us in this department. The vehicle came equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features under Infiniti’s ProPILOT Assist system. Standard features included:
- Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking to help avoid or mitigate collisions.
- Blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, which are especially useful in busy parking lots.
- Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist to help drivers stay centered in their lane.
- Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, which makes long highway drives more relaxing.
The ProPILOT Assist system combined adaptive cruise control with lane-centering technology to offer a semi-autonomous driving experience on highways. While the system doesn’t replace the need for us to pay attention, it did reduce the strain of stop-and-go traffic and long-distance cruising.
Comparison with competitors
The 2025 Infiniti QX60 Luxe AWD competes in a crowded field of luxury three-row SUVs, going up against models like the Acura MDX, Lexus RX 350L and Audi Q7. The QX60 stood out for its blend of luxury and practicality at a more accessible price point than some of its European competitors. While it may not have the performance edge of the Audi Q7 or the tech-forward appeal of the MDX, the QX60 offered a well-rounded package that prioritized comfort, family-friendliness and style.
At the end of the week: A premium SUV with mass appeal
The 2025 Infiniti QX60 Luxe AWD proved to be an excellent choice for families looking for a luxury SUV that doesn’t compromise on comfort, safety or style. It provided a smooth and confident ride, a luxurious interior filled with thoughtful touches and advanced technology that made every day driving a joy. For Utah families dealing with diverse weather conditions, the AWD system added an extra layer of confidence.
