The first event for the GOAL Foundation’s 2025 Winter Running Series will be next week.
GOAL Foundation Marketing & Communications Manager Isabelle Geddes told the Standard-Examiner on Friday that the series is a great chance for distance runners to prepare for upcoming events.
“The Winter Running Series is the official training program for the Ogden Marathon,” she said. “It’s designed to help runners stay active throughout the winter and to prepare for any springtime events they have, for the Ogden Marathon or if they’re running any other springtime races. This is a great event to help train for that or help stay motivated throughout the winter. It’s just a really fun community-centered event in Ogden.”
The 2025 Winter Running Series includes the following events:
- 5K (2-mile short course) — Saturday at 8 a.m. starting and ending at the Dee Events Center;
- 10K (4-mile short course) — March 1 at 8 a.m. starting and ending at the Dee Events Center;
- 10-miler (4.5-mile short course) — March 15 at 8 a.m. starting and ending at ENVE Composites;
- Half-marathon (10-mile short course) — April 5 at 8 a.m. starting and ending at Eden Park.
Geddes said there are running spots still available in all of the events.
She added that one doesn’t necessarily have to be a runner to be a participant in these events.
“If you aren’t a runner and you want to participate in the series, we have volunteer spots open,” she said.
Geddes said volunteer slots have been filled for the 5K, but they are still seeking members of the public to help with the 10K event and volunteer opportunities for the 10-miler and half-marathon will open closer to those event dates.
