Ogden Musical Theatre will bring "The 1940s Radio Hour" to Peery's Egyptian Theater this holiday season.

OGDEN — Ogden Musical Theatre is set to ring in the holiday season in throwback fashion with its presentation of “The 1940’s Radio Hour,” running from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1 (excluding Thanksgiving Day) at Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

The Walton Jones musical, which originally ran on Broadway in 1979-80, portrays the final holiday broadcast of the Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade on New York radio station WOV amid World War II in December 1942.

Directed by Maurie Tarbox with assistance from Mandie Wood Harris and music direction by Kenneth Plain, the Ogden production “captures the spirit of the holidays and the resilience of the WWII era,” according to a release.

The show will feature a number of big band and holiday musical favorites, in addition to dancing and old-time sound effects. 1940s favorites like The Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” — originally performed by Judy Garland — will be showcased during the show.

“We are thrilled to bring The 1940’s Radio Hour to our stage,” said Kassi Bybee, executive director of Ogden Musical Theatre, in the release. “This show offers a beautiful blend of nostalgia, humor and heart, making it a perfect way for families and community members to celebrate the holiday season together.”

Tickets are available now at the Peery’s Egyptian Theater box office and also online starting at $20.

A special “Military Night” performance recognizing the service and contributions of active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families will be held Nov. 27.

The “Student Night” performance will be held Nov. 29. Students can purchase tickets for just $10 at the Peery’s Egyptian Theater box office with their student IDs.
