Valerie Bertinelli adds game show host to her long resume in the entertainment business. She hosts the new game show “Bingo Blitz” on Game Show Network.

The game is a combination of trivia and bingo, so strategy is important as well as luck. Two contestants compete against each other to advance and earn points. The grand prize is $10,000.

Bertinelli caught the attention of television viewers when she played Barbara Cooper in the hit sitcom “One Day at a Time” from 1975-1984. During hiatus times, she also starred in several TV movies, among which were “I Was a Mail Order Bride,” “The Seduction of Gina,” “The Princess and the Cabbie,” “Shattered Vows” and “The Promise of Love” as well as the feature film “C.H.O.M.P.S.” Most of these are currently available to stream.

After the sitcom ended, Bertinelli went on to star in many more made-for-TV movies and TV miniseries: “Silent Witness,” “Taken Away,” “Pancho Barnes,” “In a Child’s Name,” “I’ll Take Manhattan,” “I Was a Mail Order Wife” and many more. She reappeared in two short-lived TV series: “Sydney” in 1990 that aired 13 episodes and “Cafe American,” which only lasted one season from 1993-1994. Then she hit it big again with “Touched by an Angel.” Her character of Gloria appeared on the hit series from 2001-03.

Bertinelli then returned to TV movies before hitting it big in another sitcom, “Hot in Cleveland,” which ran from 2010-2015 and reinvigorated her career. She had her own show on daytime TV with “Valerie’s Home Cooking,” for which she was nominated several times for a Daytime Emmy and won the award twice.

Bertinelli also won two Golden Globes for best supporting actress for her part in “One Day at a Time.” The actress has been nominated for several other awards throughout her long and successful career.

Bertinelli was the heart throb of many young boys in the 1970s with her cute smile and bouncy hair. Her figure grew, literally, as she aged and soon she became the spokesperson for the Jenny Craig weight loss program. Even though she was not the svelte young woman of her youth, she maintained her fans and added more along the way.

This new venture will have her in living rooms again as she takes on the hosting duties with her own flair.

Currently, Bertinelli is the voice of Chef Polly in the Disney Jr. animated series “RoboGobo.”

“Bingo Blitz” premiered Monday and will air weeknights at 5:30 p.m. MDT on Game Show Network.

Starting at $4.32/week.
