The season finale of “The Pitt” airs Thursday, April 10, 2025, and the entire season is available to stream on Max.

The new medical drama “The Pitt” focuses on first responders and their intense pressure as they attend to patients in a fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Center. Recently the cast took part in a press conference for members of the media, which was hosted by actor/entertainment correspondent Melvin Robert.

Robert described the show by saying, “The way that they’re telling the stories on this show is very unique. It gives us all a front row seat to really feel and experience the extraordinary impact that these heroes have and the way that they’re able to touch people, in ways that, I think we get a little bit of a glimpse of, but we still don’t really truly know.”

Robert went on to say, “As the show is so gritty and it’s raw and you get in there, there’s still so much that we don’t know about the true impact of first responders and the true impact of these superheroes and how they really work to save lives every single day while sacrificing sometimes their own needs and wants, desires, mental health challenges that they’re going through as well.”

Noah Wyle came to prominence in the hit medical series “ER” which ran from 1994-2009, although he had been acting for several years before his big break on that show. The fact that he was costumed in scrubs for the better part of 15 years is not lost on him or his fans.

Wyle told the media, “It would be rare for another actor or artist to have an opportunity to revisit something that was such a huge part of their early career and that was so ingrained in their tissues and then get to play that instrument again with a little wisdom and maturity and hear the tone and how it’s changed over the years. It’s been really rewarding.”

When asked how they get their stories, Wyle responded enthusiastically, “This show has a secret weapon named Dr. Joe Sachs, who is a technical advisor and producer and writer for our show who’s still a practicing ER doctor. And he goes into what he calls his tickle trunk and pulls out cases and really great ideas. And he’s never run dry.”

As Executive Producer John Wells explained, “The Pitt” is about the characters and the stories. “These are wonderful characters.” He went on to say that learning about the characters is a big part of the series.

While at first viewers might think this is like a continuation of Wyle’s “ER” series, they quickly learn otherwise. This is also not like the soapy “Grey’s Anatomy” either. The stories are steeped in reality and the scenes are gritty and intense.

There is no doubt the stories are emotionally charged and intense both for the characters and the viewers. The reviews have been mixed but mostly positive.

The season finale of “The Pitt” aired Thursday and the entire season is available to stream on Max.

Starting at $4.32/week.
