OGDEN — February’s First Friday Art Stroll will feature two exhibit openings in one location.

According to a press release on this week’s First Friday Art Stroll — set for Friday from 6-9 p.m. — Ogden Contemporary Arts, located at 455 25th St., will host.

“Ogden Contemporary Arts (OCA) is thrilled to present two solo exhibitions showcasing the bold, innovative practices of ceramic artists Elyse Pignolet and Aimee Odum,” the release said. “These exhibits unite the timeless craft of ceramics with contemporary themes, offering fresh, thought-provoking perspectives on today’s cultural and societal issues. The exhibitions will coincide with the 2025 NCECA Conference in Salt Lake City, opening Feb. 7 and running through Apr. 13. As always, admission is free at OCA.”

The release notes the two exhibits as the following:

  • “GOOD GIRL by Elyse Pignolet, living and working in Los Angeles, CA, explores themes of misogyny, inequality, and cultural stereotypes. Through the integration of politically charged messages into traditional porcelain patterns, Pignolet, examines feminist issues with sharp commentary. Her work, recognized internationally, bridges the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern sociopolitical discourse, offering a compelling critique of contemporary womanhood.”
  • “DOOMSCROLLER by Aimee Odum, living and working in Salt Lake City, UT, merges ceramics with artificial intelligence to investigate the impacts of digital distraction and information overload. Odum’s evocative works highlight humanity’s evolving relationship with technology, combining tactile craftsmanship with conceptual inquiry. As a visual artist and educator with international accolades, Odum invites viewers to reflect on their own digital habits and the broader implications of a tech-driven world.”

Additional engagement events will also be a part of the exhibits, according to the press release, including:

  • Thursday, 6 p.m. — Lecture at Weber State University: Elyse Pignolet artist lecture hosted by Weber State University.
  • Friday, 4-6 p.m. — VIP Members Only Happy Hour: First look at the exhibition; small bites and beverages will be served at OCA. Both artists, Pignolet and Odum, will be in attendance.
  • Friday, 6-9 p.m. — Public Opening: Both artists will be in attendance.
  • Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Artist Factory Workshop: Collaborative workshop at OCA; Pignolet and Ogden’s poet laureate, Angelika Brewer, explore techniques and will guide participants in creating ceramic works inspired by the exhibition. Open to all ages.
