Entries for the center’s annual Earth Day art poster contest are currently being sought from children in kindergarten through the sixth grade. The theme for this year’s contest is “What Nature Teaches Me.” There is no fee to submit a poster and entries will be accepted at the center — located at 966 W. 12th St. — until 4 p.m. on April 12.
Prizes will be awarded to three winners in each grade, with one grand prize awarded per grade. Winners will be announced during a special awards program at the 50th Anniversary & Earth Day Celebration on April 26 at 11 a.m. Winners will be notified to attend.
“This is a fun opportunity for children to show their love and awareness of nature through art,” a release stated.
The submission guidelines are as follows:
- Entries must measure 8.5 inches by 11 inches and adhere to the “What Nature Teaches Me” theme.
- Please do not glue anything onto your poster.
- The following must be included on the back of the submission: name (first and last), school, grade (K-6), teacher, home phone number, project title and parent/guardian email address.
- Late entries may not be judged.
All entries will be displayed at the Ogden Nature Center from April 26 through May 17. Teachers who work on this project with their students and submit entries from their entire class will be entered in a drawing to win a free Ogden Nature Center wildlife presentation in their classroom.
