Sandra H. Havas

Sandra H. Havas passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, in Ogden, Utah at the age of 89. She was born on January 31, 1936, in East Chicago, Illinois to Don and Mary Harris. Sandy attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and later continued her education at Weber State University.
On July 30, 1953, Sandy married Ted Morgan in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they had four children: Marietta (Newell) Marsden, Nate (Val) Morgan, Mitzi (Tim) Bissell, Cathy (Duane) Beus. They were later divorced. On December 6, 1972, she married (David) Bert Havas.
Sandy served as the Executive Director of the Eccles Community Art Center from 1976 until her retirement in 2011 at the age of 75. Working there became a passion of hers. She made many friends there and loved serving the people in the community.
Sandy’s selflessness was further exhibited by a lifetime of volunteer work. She Volunteered at St. Benedicts Hospital Auxiliary, The Junior League of Ogden, the Ogden City Arts and Ogden Catholic Services.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bert Havas, both of her parents, her mother-in-law, Jeanette, brother-in-law, Fred, sister Marsha and brother Michael. Sandy is survived by her 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and her sister Donna.
The Family would like to thank Annette and Kami from Applegate Home Care and Hospice for their loving care for our mother. We would also like to thank her grandson, Ty, for helping take care of her this past year.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 11:00AM, with a viewing on Monday, March 24, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Leavitt’s Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St. Ogden, UT 84403.
