“Together Forever”
Frank John Telford, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 surrounded by family on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
Frank was born on October 17, 1927 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Walter and Marie Palmer Telford. He was raised on a farm in West Weber where he and his beloved sister Carol Jean learned the value of hard work, exercising the horses, herding the sheep, and doing their chores. Frank and Carol Jean along with their father Walt, rode their horses in the first Ogden 24th of July Parade and the Ogden Rodeo Grand Entry in 1935.
He attended West Weber Elementary, Weber High and graduated from Ogden High School in 1945. After graduating, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He attended Boot Camp in San Diego and was then assigned a tour of duty on a mine sweep in the Pacific. He was stationed in Trinidad where he spent his last tour of duty in charge of the Naval Operation Base Office. After serving from 1945-1948 he was honorably discharged.
Frank attended Weber State College and the University of Colorado, then served in the Swiss Austrian Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Shortly after he returned from his mission, he met and married Nulda Richards in the Salt Lake Temple on September 20, 1954. They loved dancing to “Big Band” music and traveling with their daughter Nancy.
Frank worked at Weber State University from 1962-1992 in Shipping and Receiving, the Mail Room, and the Stewart Library. While there, he had the opportunity to further his education and went on to graduate with a BA degree in Psychology and three minors in Sociology, Business Management, and German.
After retiring, Frank and Nulda served three LDS missions to: the Salt Lake City Family History Library Mission, the Korea Seoul South Mission, and the Zurich Switzerland Mission. Upon returning home, they bought a 5th wheeler and traveled the country for about two years.
After Nulda passed away in 2013, Frank kept himself busy writing their autobiographies, his parents’ biographies, and a journal of stories to give to his family.
Frank has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He has served in many church callings including Stake Missionary, Executive Secretary, Financial Clerk, Membership Clerk, High Priest Group Leader and Ward temple coordinator.
He has faithfully been working on genealogy to search for his ancestors and others in “Family Search” and to be able to do their temple ordinances. Frank was always proud to say, “It is such a joy and a wonderful feeling when you know that families can be together forever.”
Frank is survived by his daughter Nancy (Bob) Blair, his grandsons Bart Blair, Brad (Elizabeth) Blair, and Zack (Courtnee) Blair, and 12 wonderful great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Nulda, his sister Carol Jean, his parents, and granddaughter Lindsay.
The family would like to thank the members of the Shadow Mountain Ward for the love and kindness they have shown for Frank. He loved his ward family very deeply.
