Beth Wilde Sjoblom

Beth Wilde Sjoblom, lovingly known as “Momma Bear” and “Nana,” passed away on March 9, 2025, at the young age of 65, surrounded by her loving husband, daughter, and son-in-law. She was born on May 3, 1959, in Preston, Idaho, to Fay C. and Mona N. Wilde. Beth was known for her radiant smile, boundless generosity, and a heart that knew no limits. Her love for others was unwavering, and she touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Beth spent the first decade of her life on her family’s farm in Mink Creek, ID, as the youngest of six children. She had fond memories of those years and often reminisced about her love for horses–especially Flicka–small-town life, country music, and her beloved border collie, Bob. She frequently spoke of her wonderful parents and siblings and the strong bond they shared. In 1969, her family moved to Ogden, UT, where Beth later attended Ben Lomond High School and became a proud member of the Bonnie Lassies Drill Team.
In 1977, Beth was introduced to a handsome young man, David Sjoblom, on a blind date. The two quickly fell in love and were married on October 5, 1978. They shared 47 beautiful years together, experiencing life’s highest highs and lowest lows, but most importantly, a love that never wavered. Beth and Dave welcomed three wonderful children–Brandon, Carly, and Bailey–and were later blessed with five amazing grandchildren–Scotland, Preslee, Sweden, Italee, and Luciena. Beth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her love for her family was unparalleled. Her children and grandchildren were her world, and she would have moved mountains for them. They were her greatest joy and deepest source of pride.
As much love as Beth had for her family, she also deeply cherished the friendships she built throughout her life. She had a natural gift for making others feel seen, valued, and at home in her presence. Her warmth extended beyond words, she opened her heart and home to those she loved, creating a space of comfort and belonging. Whether through a thoughtful gesture, a perfectly chosen gift, or simply being there in life’s big and small moments, Beth had a way of making people feel special. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In 1981, Beth began her career with the U.S. Forest Service, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 2019. One of the most rewarding aspects of her job was serving on a National Incident Management Team, responding to wildland fires and other natural disasters. She played a crucial role in assisting injured and ill firefighters, ensuring they received proper medical care and handling workers’ compensation documentation. These assignments often required her to be completely self-sufficient, bringing her own tent and supplies while working in remote and demanding conditions. Despite the challenges, Beth treasured the incredible people she met along the way and often spoke fondly of those experiences.
Beth had a deep love for all things beautiful, and she herself was beautiful inside and out. She enjoyed shopping and dressing to impress, found joy in decorating and filling her home with warmth and light, and cherished every moment spent with family and friends. She also had a passion for travel and found pure happiness in exploring new places. Some of her favorite memories were made on beach vacations, where she could relax by the ocean, soak in the sun, and embrace the peacefulness of the waves. But above all, Beth had a lifelong love for God and her Savior, keeping them close to her heart through every joy and heartbreak. The light in her life began to dim after the devastating loss of her two oldest children, Brandon and Carly. Those who knew her best understood that this sorrow was too heavy to bear. While her passing is heartbreaking to those who love her, they find peace knowing she is now reunited not only with her babies but also with Jesus, in the loving embrace of the One who carried her through it all.
Beth is survived by her loving husband, David Sjoblom; daughter, Bailey Milla-Sjoblom; sons-in-law, Arturo Milla-Sjoblom and Morgan Nielson; granddaughters, Scotland, Preslee, Sweden, Italee, and Luciena; siblings, Diane, Illene, Garth, and Wyla; and countless dear friends who became family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Mona Wilde; her son, Brandon David Sjoblom; her daughter, Carly Nielson; and her brother, Dwayne.
