Paul R Wiley

Mar 18, 2025

October 20, 1955 — March 14, 2025

Paul “Curly” Wiley was born on October 20, 1955, to Victor and Leora Wiley in Logan, Utah. He passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025.

Paul joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After the military, he spent more than 30 years as a long-haul truck driver–a career he took great pride in.

Paul lived a hard and fast life for many years and was always ready to share the most entertaining stories from his days of “runnin’ and gunnin’.”

His proudest accomplishment in life was becoming a father to Paul “Chewy” Wiley on July 17, 1981, and Jaime “Boop” Wiley on March 16, 1991. He loved his children with everything he had, and on August 28, 1995, he began his 29-year journey of recovery in Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous. His family remains endlessly proud of him.

On September 9, 2017, Paul beamed with pride as his son married Amberly, gaining a second daughter and a grandson, Kaleb aka “Jack”. He was overjoyed to become a Grandpa to Zya Hope and Trapper James, and one of his greatest joys in life was watching his three grandkids grow up, showering them with love, affection, and gifts. He was so proud to see Chewy become the man, husband, and father he is today.

He loved being a Grandpa so much that he told Boop he wouldn’t leave this earth until his daughter made him a Grandpa again. True to his stubborn nature, just days after his hospice paperwork was signed, his unborn grandchild decided it was time. Paul was elated to hear that Jaime and Austin Conklin are expecting their first child together in September 2025. He was equally proud to give Austin his blessing to marry his daughter just days before he passed. We know he’s already getting into shenanigans with his unborn grandchild, preparing them to be a prankster on this earth–just like he was.

In 2019, Curly met the love of his life, Kathleen (Kitty), at the Ogden Alano Club. Their bond was unique and beautiful, and Kitty took the most amazing care of him. Our family owes her so much and will forever be grateful for everything she did for our dad.

Curly will always be remembered for his booming laugh, his quick wit, his love for rock ‘n’ roll and Harleys, his tireless work ethic, his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and, above all, his deep love for his family.

His family would also like to thank the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah, for the exceptional love and care they provided him through his battle with Alzheimer’s and his transition into the next life. He deeply loved every person who worked there, and they loved him with the same fierceness.

Curly was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David Wiley; his sister, Vikki Wiley; his nephews, Ike and Lil’ David; and his beloved dog, Maggie. He is survived by his soulmate, Kitty; sister, Cindy Wiley; his brothers, Mark and Mike Wiley; his son, Paul (Amberly) Wiley; his daughter, Jaime (Austin) Wiley; his grandchildren; and the nieces and nephews he loved so much (especially Bart).

We know he’s riding a Harley in Heaven, blasting Van Halen. We love you, Dad.

A barbecue will be held in Curly’s honor on March 30, 2025, at 12 PM at the Alano Club on 24th Street in Ogden, Utah. Following the gathering, we will embark on Curly’s Last Ride to Valley Camp–kickstands up at 1:30 PM. Curly was loved by so many, and all are welcome to join.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made in Curly’s honor to Valley Camp via Venmo @valleycamputah or through their website: valleycamputah.com
