Theron Lynn Wakefield

Layton/Huntsville-Theron Lynn Wakefield, 77, passed away peacefully Wednesday February 26, 2025, at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans’ Home.
Theron was born March 8, 1947, in Ogden, Utah to Lewis Edgar and Ada Wangsgard Wakefield and was the fifth of six children. He was educated in Davis County; E. M. Whitesides Elementary, Central Davis Junior High, and graduated from Davis High in 1965.
After high school, Theron attended Weber State for one year. In October 1966, he joined the Army. He was sent to Fort Polk, LA for basic training for six months. He then went on to Fort Gordon, GA for training in electronics. He trained to repair electronics and helicopter communication radios. In 1967, Theron left for Vietnam, and was assigned to Pho Loy, South Vietnam. After two years, he returned to us. In the fall, he went back to Weber State to complete more electronics training.
In 1974, he was hired by Hill Air Force Base as an electronics technician. He worked on radar guided missiles. In December 1997, he retired from the base. He had moved from Layton to Huntsville, Utah a year before retiring. He made his home in Huntsville to take care of the family property.
Theron is survived by his two sisters; Lou Ann and Colleen, and one brother Randy. He is also survived by two special nieces, two special nephews and their spouses; ,Wendy and Dan, Jill and Jim, Sam and Milena, and Andy and Tara. He enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephews; Kate, Abram, Ollie, Mae, Emilia, Andrea, and Anna. He also leaves behind a good friend Nancy.
Theron was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Thayle and Lance.
Special thanks to the staff and wonderful people at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans’ Home for the care they gave to Theron. We really appreciate Wendy (niece) for her diligent work with his medical care and his well-being, especially the last year.
Graveside services will be held Saturday March 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Saturday from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah prior to the graveside service.
