Thelma Wright Jackson

August 29, 1930 — February 26, 2025
Thelma Wright Jackson of Washington Terrace passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the age of 94.
She was born in Duchesne on August 29, 1930, to Thomas H. Wright and Samantha Ellen Davies Wright. She lived in Salt Lake City for most of her childhood where she attended West High School. Thelma graduated in 1970 from Bonneville High School after attending night school with her sister.
Thelma was a special spirit; at the age of 14 she had a spiritual vision which prepared her for her invalid father’s death in 1945. She met her husband, Earl W. Jackson in Salt Lake City at the Coconut Grove and were wed on June 17, 1948, in the Salt Lake City Temple. In 1950, they moved to Ogden, built their home in Washington Terrace and raised four children.
Thelma had many occupations, but her favorite was being a stay-at-home mom. She tended children at home and in several Day Cares, worked in elementary and Jr. High school lunchrooms, and on production lines at Swift & Company, and Max Factor.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she was a Building Fund Secretary, Sunday school, MIA and Visiting teacher. She was active as a school Room Mother, Boy Scout Den Mother, volunteered for non-profit organizations and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Grandma.
She loved all living things and touched numerous hearts throughout her life by nursing the sick, tending kids and pets, baking cakes, writing poems and corresponding with others by sending copious numbers of cards for every occasion.
The family gratefully thanks the Bristol Hospice staff; especially Nicole, Shannon, Morgan and Jenn who provided excellent caregiver support and took such tender and loving care of Thelma.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Earl, son Thomas J Jackson, grandson William (Billy) Blamey, sister Helen Barbour, brothers Tom, Jim and Don Wright and many others who are celebrating her arrival in heaven.
She is survived by her son Earl Wayne Jackson Jr. (Marissa (Qingrong Yu)), daughters Patti K Jackson (Robert Mills), and Connie J Lowder (Larry), daughter in law Janis Blamey (Tom), 12 grandchildren, 20 ½ great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
