DOUGLAS WAYNE GIBBY

BRIGHAM CITY – Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Douglas Wayne Gibby, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at The Gables in Brigham City, Utah.

He was born on January 2, 1942 in Ogden, Utah, along with his twin, Donald Gibby (deceased). He was the son of Ralph Farnsworth and Lou Ceil Emma Butler Gibby.

Doug graduated from Weber High School in 1960, then furthered his education at Weber State College earning his degree in Manufacturing Engineering.

He served an LDS mission in Hawaii from 1961-1963. Doug served as a BSA leader, High Councilor, Stake Missionary and a counselor in the bishopric.

Doug received the Silver Beaver Award in Scouting and accolades in Space Engineering.

He was the President of the twin’s club and Designated Swearer!

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, auto body/painting, practical jokes, owned a cabin in Island Park, he and his brothers named a lake in the Uintah’s “Gibby Lake”, (which is now named as such on maps).

Surviving is his wife, Elaine; five children, Connie (Jesse) Peterson of Rigby, ID; Wayne (Matthew) Gibby of Roy, UT; Debbie (Trish) Allen-Gibby of Magna, UT; Hollie (Cord) Schrader of Eagle, ID; Michael (Carrie) Gibby of Magna, UT; 26 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are seven siblings, Carol Lord; Robert (Jean) Gibby; Keith (Annette) Gibby; Paul (Julie) Gibby; Beth (John) Severs; John (Shauna) Gibby; Mark (Linda) Gibby; sister-in-law, Lael Gibby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Matt Luxa, his twin brother, Donald, brother-in-law, Bob Lord, sister-in-law, Dorothy Gibby.

The family would like to express their thanks to The Gables of Brigham City for their loving care of Doug, and Doctor Scott Nagao and Symbii Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 am at Brigham City 24th Ward, 650 Anderson Drive.

Viewings will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City, Utah and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
