Carma O. Parker

Jan 10, 2025

September 30, 1929 — January 7, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carma Olsen Parker on January 7, 2025. A dedicated mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, she was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing. Carma was born on September 30, 1929, in Logan, Utah, to Cliff and Mabel Green Olsen. Except for a few years in Southern California, she spent her entire childhood in Wellsville, Utah. She graduated from South Cache High School and was the proud sister of two siblings, Velda Lee Beckert and Rosalie Butler.

Carma married our father, Lowell C Maughn, in 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had three children, Ronald, Gayla, and Carol.

For 10 years, she owned and operated a store in Wellsville called Carma’s Confectionery, where everyone in town gathered with friends. After closing the store, she went on to work at the Defense Depot Ogden.

Our father passed away in 1973 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). Carma moved to Brigham City for a brief time, and then to Ogden. She met Douglas Parker at the Defense Depot, where they became good friends and later married in 1978. They enjoyed 23 wonderful years together, traveling to visit family, golfing, and camping. Doug passed away in 2001.

Carma remained active throughout her life, up until her final days. She loved gardening, solving crossword puzzles, volunteering at the Ogden Temple, and serving those around her. She was also an avid Jazz fan. Carma will be deeply missed. She was simply unforgettable.

Carma is survived by her daughters, Gayla (John) Pengelly, Carol Larsen; her two sisters, Velda Lee Beckert and Rosalie Butler; her stepchildren, Scott (Ludy) Parker, John (Yvonne) Parker and Vicki (Jim) Berger; along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and her beloved furry companion, Coco. She was preceded in death by both husbands; son, Ronald; stepson, Jeff Parker; her parents, and her infant brother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden Stake Center Chapel, 950 East 2850 North. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Atlas Homecare and Hospice.
