Robert Brent Sorenson

1937 – 2025
Robert Brent Sorenson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, returning to his Heavenly Father after a lifetime of faith, service, and love.
Brent was born on May 31, 1937, to Hyrum Gaylard Sorenson and SeVona LaFaye Larson Sorenson. He was raised in a gospel-centered home and carried that faith throughout his life. On July 1, 1963, he married Jeanette Dabb Sorenson and they shared 61 wonderful years together before his passing. They were blessed with five children: Nadine Sorenson Noker (Marshall), Dale Andrew Sorenson (Amy), Chad Samuel Sorenson (Shallen), Glen Wendell Sorenson, who preceded him in death and Alicia Palmer (Jeff). Brent and Jeanette’s legacy continues through their 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He served a mission in Sweden, where he grew in leadership and testimony. Years later, he and Jeanette returned to Sweden as temple missionaries, fulfilling their shared devotion to the gospel and temple work.
Brent earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Utah State University and spent over 30 years as an educator, teaching Industrial Arts, Drafting, and Mathematics. His passion for learning and teaching left a lasting impact on many.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brent faithfully served in many callings, including Elders Quorum President, Stake Mission President, High Priest Group Leader, and ward and stake organist. His love for music and temple work brought him great joy, and he dedicated much of his time to family history and was an avid genealogist.
Brent’s life was one of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and dedicated service. His testimony of the Savior was unshakable, and he bore witness of Christ through his words and actions.
Beyond his faith and profession, Brent was an outdoorsman who loved archery, hunting, camping, and exploring nature. He was also highly skilled in woodworking and carpentry, using his talents to build and create throughout his life.
Brent is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Sorenson; sister, Marilyn Douglas (Roger); and sister-in-law, Linda Sorenson (Allen). He was preceded in death by his son, Glen; his brother, Allen Sorenson. Ralph’s wife, Beth Sorenson, has also passed.
