Alvin John (AJ) Noker

Alvin John (AJ) Noker (96) peacefully passed away in his sleep on 13 February 2025 of complications from old age and Parkinson’s disease. He was born 15 October 1928, in Ogden, Utah, to Alvin William and Leona Nelson Noker.

His earlier years were spent between his beloved family coal mine on Granite Creek near Jackson, Wyoming and Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. After a stint in the Army during the Korean War, he went to school for an Engineering degree. Eventually, he graduated from Brigham Young University.

He married Lora Lee Marshall (Ogden, Utah) in the Salt Lake Temple on 27 August 1954. They had four children: Kari, David, Marshall and Melinda. He enjoyed his work as a Mechanical Engineer at Sperry Univac (Unisys). During his employment he invented products that garnered at least five patents for the company. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed genealogy and documented more than 100,000 ancestors from the Rhineland, Prussia.

Activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brought many different callings and responsibilities. He served as a Young Men advisor, Stake Missionary, High Priest Group Leader, High Councilor, Bishop and Temple Worker. His favorite was Scoutmaster where he served for almost 20 years.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Lora Lee, and his daughter Melinda Noker Paget. He is survived by his wife, Stella, his children, Kari (Kim) Byington, Hooper, UT; David Noker, Cypress, TX; Marshall (Nadine), La Vista, NE; Melinda’s husband, Karl Paget, West Bountiful, UT; step-son Steven (Jonan) Williams, Bountiful, UT; step-daughter Penny (Paul) Wells, West Bountiful, UT. He has 22 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Bountiful Park LDS Church, 990 N. 100 W., Bountiful, UT, where a viewing will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. and Saturday morning from 11:00-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Bountiful Cemetery.
