Darlene Stevenson Hamblin

Feb 11, 2025

Our dear, loving Mother, Darlene Stevenson Hamblin, of Ogden, Utah, passed away February 6, 2025 at age 89. She was born on April 24, 1935, in Duchesne, Utah to the exemplary couple, Wilford David Stevenson and Maggie Davies.

Darlene was a proud graduate of Davis High School (Go Darts!) and later married Bert John Hamblin of Clearfield, Utah. They were sealed for all eternity on June 12, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. She remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life, exemplifying the love and compassion of Jesus Christ in the way she cared for and uplifted everyone she met.

Darlene was a gifted professional artist who shared her passion for painting by teaching from her home in Ogden for many years. As a dedicated member of the Palette Club, she frequently showcased her work in competitions across Utah, including the Utah State Fair, where she often earned top honors such as Best of Show and First Place. In her later years, she expanded her artistic expression by incorporating unconventional materials like sand, foam insulation, seashells, and even tree stumps, which she transformed into enchanting castles. With an extraordinary vision, she had a unique ability to see beyond the ordinary, turning the unexpected into breathtaking works of art.

Darlene was a devoted and unwavering source of love and support for her family, never giving up on those she cherished. She had a deep appreciation for music, playing both the piano and drums, and a profound love for animals. Through her gentle and compassionate nature, she even inspired Bert to trade hunting for hand-feeding deer, a testament to her ability to nurture kindness in those around her.

She is survived by her children, Brent John (Sherol) Hamblin, Lyman Duane (Tracy) Hamblin, Terry Steven (Denise) Hamblin, Tonya Darlene (Mark) Petersen, Teana Gaye (Corey) Mulvey, and Tamra Jean (Kevin) Hamblin-Wright; 24 grandchildren, 46.5 great-grandchildren; one brother, David Mac (Ann) Stevenson, one half-sister Jana (Larry) Hewitt, and one sister-in-law Alice (Ivan) Dickson.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Bert John Hamblin; parents, Wilford David Stevenson and Maggie Davies (Boris) Aaron; one unnamed son; a sister, Esther Rebecca (Mark) Carter; a brother, James William (Glenda) Stevenson; three sisters-in-law, Marie (Lowell) Knight, Ruth (George) Jarvis, and Faye (Chariton) Jacobs.
