Noel D. Flint

Noel was born in his childhood home to Charles Barnes and Delila Stoker Flint. He was the seventh of ten children. Dad along with his siblings worked hard on the family farm and large garden. He attended school in Davis County, graduating from Davis High School in 1955, where he was active in sports, and the FFA. Dad was involved and helped with past high school reunions, where he continued to enjoy the association of his schoolmates.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States Mission. Upon returning home, he worked in construction with his brother Vern. Noel met Carol Ann Young on a Valentines Day blind date, engaged the next Valentines Day and then married his sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple on September 2, 1960. Together, they raised five children in the home he built in West Layton. His children and their spouses are; Mark (Denise), Annette Green (Monte), Aaron (Melanie), Lance, Jerald (Julise).

Noel worked in the construction industry for J. Ron Stacey Construction, formed and co-owned Flint-Bateman Construction, Flint Construction, later working as a Federal Housing inspector. He retired from Zions Bank Property Division. He enjoyed taking his family to snowmobile in West Yellowstone, Boating in Lake Powell with family and friends and really relished his property in the Uintah’s whereas a family we enjoyed camping and bonded with the many West Layton friends and neighbors we grew up with. We must add that dad was an amazing and athletic water skier back in the day as he kept us in awe, every time we as children watched him from the back of the boat.

Noel served valiantly in all aspects of his life be it in construction, as a neighbor, in ward Bishopric’s, Bishop. Stake High Counciler, and Stake Patriarch. We are proud of how faithfully he served and the example he set. Dad loved reading and re-reading conference talks, church books, and studying the scriptures at the kitchen table. We know this was and is important to Dad. We know that dad loves the Lord and truly loved and followed the council of the Church Prophets. He would quietly and emotionally share his humble testimony with us often. Noel especially cherished his time attending the Temple whenever he could and was especially thrilled when the Layton Temple opened.

Noel and Carol Ann had the amazing opportunity to serve as Temple service missionaries in Nuku’olofa, Tonga where Noel took pride as the Temple Project Manager and oversaw the remodeling of this beautiful island LDS Temple. At the dedication ceremony, Noel quietly rejoiced as he stood by the Elder (President) Russell M. Nelson who placed the commemorative cornerstone on this Temple and handed our father the trowel that had just been used for this dedication tradition. Many lifelong friendships were established during this mission. They both loved the people they met and the picturesque landscape of Tonga.

Noel is survived by his five children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister, Charlene Marchant, (George), brother, Stanley Flint (Deloris), Sisters-in-law; Berdine Flint, Dianne Flint, Jeanette Willis, Marilyn Braden (Ronald), Brothers-in-law, Craig Young (Colleen and David Young (Jennifer).

Noel is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Carol Ann, his parents, his siblings; Grant, Jean, Vern, Gary, and three infant siblings. Also, by beloved grandchildren, Bradley Flint, Tyler Flint and Chelsey Flint.

Dad, thank you for teaching us how to work, how to serve others and the example you have set for all your posterity. We love you, you lived a life well lived. Until we meet again.

Funeral services will be held February 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Our family would like to thank the many wonderful neighbors and friends who brought by food and took the time to stop and check on Dad, especially after mom’s passing. Dad was so sad and lonely but knowing he had so many friends and family checking on him, reminded him daily that he was very loved.

Thank you to Alan Jaynes for always being available for sprinkler/yard help. Thank you to Tom Day for letting Dad have a water turn on his treasured garden. Thank you to Kristy and Marcos with Intermountain Health Hospice. You made dad laugh and with your encouragement, helped him endure to the end and stay in his home.
