Shirley Valere Palmer

Shirley Valere Palmer, 92, passed away Feb 1, 2025, at the McKay Dee Hospital. She was born August 6, 1932, in Ogden, Utah at the former Thomas Dee Hospital on 24th Street and Harrison Blvd. Her mother was Ella Lythgo Dearden of Henefer and her dad was Walter LeRoy Palmer of Riverdale. Val was married to Don L. Wilson when she lived in Layton and then Syracuse. They were later divorced, and Don is deceased. Val had a son, Brad C. Wilson (deceased) whose wife is Roberta, and she has another son, Tim Wilson (wife Karen). Her daughter Daryl Sheffield also passed away (husband Corey). She has a daughter Sheryl Williams (husband Taylor). And 14 grandchildren.

She worked for a couple of years at IRS and then worked at Hill Air Force Base in Sheet Metal and then Electrical Mechanic Repair by Computer for the Air Force C. Phantom Fighter. She worked in sales for Recreation Land at Bear Lake. She got her Real-Estate License and sold land in East Canyon, Camper World and Aristocrats Condos. She sold Avon, Studio Girl, Amway, Sun Rider, Shaklee and Consumer Express. From Sun Rider she earned 5 cruises and earned travel to Hawaii, China, Taiwan, and she earned two Honda cars.

Val served 40 years in Primary. She served for 17 years in the Relief Society. She taught the CTR class in Sunday School. She served in the MIA Laurels and Beehives and was Camp Director with Lenora Grondell who was a General Authority over some stakes. Val was a daughter of the Utah Pioneers.

Val was Republican President for Davis County and was Cancer Drive Chairman different times for Davis County while living in Syracuse.

Val’s brothers Dean, Ario, Fred and Keith and her sister Bessie are deceased. She is survived by her sister Carolyn and her youngest brother Tim Tracy Palmer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary at 836 36th Street in Ogden, Utah on Saturday February 9 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held just before from 9:45 to 10:45 AM.
