Marjorie Joyce McCall Phipps

Our mother, Marjorie Joyce McCall Phipps, 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. She had suffered a serious head injury during a fall. Marjorie was born in Ogden, Utah, to Ruth Maude Lillie and James Glendon McCall on November 1, 1934. Her mother unofficially changed her birthday to October 31 so Marjorie could attend school with her friends. Marjorie attended Madison Elementary, Central Jr High, and Ogden High Schools. While in school she participated in Ogden Drum Corps, Pep Club, Church and School Choirs. She also rode her horse in the rodeo for three years.

Marjorie met Ronald Henry Phipps in high school and they were married on November 16, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple and had their reception the following day. After graduating high school in 1952, she joined Ron in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was serving in the Navy during the Korean War. They returned to Ogden in January of 1954. They lived in Ogden until they became snowbirds and spent their winters in St George, they spent 3 years in their motorhome then in 1996 purchased lot 155 at Temple View RV Resort.

Marjorie and Ron learned square and round dancing and served as presidents of the Ogden Quarter Promenaders Square Dance Club during the 1987 year. Marjorie also liked to read, camp, and travel. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Cherie Lynn Phipps Nelson; and sons, Ronald Kevin Phipps and Rodney Scott Phipps; 7 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, and a sister.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
