Darrell Dwight Holt

April 6, 1954 – April 8, 2025
Darrell Dwight Holt, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Howell, Utah, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by his wife and family.
Dwight was born on April 6, 1954, in South Jordan, Utah, to Darrell Henry Holt and Wilma Thayne. After the early passing of his mother, his father married Norma Lee Thayne in 1957, who lovingly helped raise Dwight and his siblings.
Dwight was raised on the Holt family farm in South Jordan, where he learned the values of hard work and resilience alongside his four younger siblings. He cherished his upbringing, recalling fond memories of long days on the farm followed by horseback rides to his Uncle Golden’s gas station for a cold Coca-Cola from the vending machine.
Dwight attended Bingham High School where he played football in both offensive and defensive positions and claimed first place in wrestling for the 185 pound, region 3 match. He graduated in 1972.
In 1983, Dwight married Christine DeHart of Ogden, Utah. Shortly after, they moved to Willard, Utah, where they raised their family. Dwight worked at Thiokol, contributing to rocket manufacturing efforts during the U.S. Space Race, and retired in 2009. In 2004 the Holts moved to Syracuse, Utah, and in 2014 they purchased a farm in Howell, Utah where Dwight rekindled his love of farming and honored the legacy of five generations before him.
An avid outdoorsman, Dwight had a passion for hunting and fishing. He especially treasured annual camping trips with his children and grandchildren, where stories were shared, and bonds were strengthened around the fire.
Dwight is survived by his beloved wife, Christine, and his children: Tanya (Todd McKennon), Kyle (Senicca) from a previous marriage, and Reid (Andrea ) with Christine. He is also survived by his siblings Dan (Audrey), Wanda (Blake) Orgill, Iris (Randy) O’Rourke, Conrad; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one more great-grandchild on the way. His presence, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
