Barbara Frances (Crockett) Bohling

April 12, 1957 — March 29, 2025
Barbara Frances (Crockett) Bohling, 67, of Ogden, passed away at Ogden Regional Hospital in the early morning of Saturday, March 29, 2025, after a long battle with lung disease.
Barbara was born on April 12, 1957, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late William Alexander Crockett and Gertrude Ann (Bindel) Crockett.
Growing up in Wichita Falls, Barbara learned to play the guitar. Gifted with a beautiful voice, she shared her deep love of music with those around her. As a teenager, she often played her guitar and sang for her nieces and nephews, creating songs in the moment. This love for music carried into early motherhood, inspiring her to write songs and lullabies for her daughters.
In the late 1990s, after settling in Utah and becoming a mother, Barbara earned a degree from the University of Phoenix–an achievement she and her young daughters were immensely proud of.
To know Barbara was to know spring incarnate. Her free spirit, warmth, and resilience were some of her strongest qualities. She often said her fighting spirit came from Davy Crockett, of whom she was a direct descendant. Every spring, she found great joy in planting and tending to her vibrant flower garden, with pots overflowing with a wide variety of blooms. She felt most at peace in nature, favoring the steep landscapes of the Mountain West or the shore of a beach over the bustle of a city–though she did find beauty in them all.
From an early age, Barbara’s tender spirit was evident, and her connection to the world around her was nothing short of special. Animals, in particular, were drawn to her gentleness and warmth. These qualities remained with her throughout her life, leading her to form a strong bond with her two beloved dogs, Raphael and Michael–her “angels,” as she called them.
Barbara was a devout Catholic and spent many hours in her later years volunteering at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Within the church walls, she found tranquility, and her faith brought her comfort in her final hours.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Chris, Tom, Bob, and DJ Crockett; her sister, Mary-Jean Davey; and her daughter, Jerri Alexandria Drake.
Barbara is survived by her sisters, Sue and Cathy; her brother, Bill (Jane); her brother-in-law, Jim; her daughters, Emily and Larken; and her husband, Paul.
As her sister said, more than anything, Barbara was a loving and devoted mother, a loyal friend, and someone who would go the extra mile without hesitation. She gave freely of her time, her warmth, her laughter, and her joy. Her kindness rippled outward in quiet ways that made a lasting difference.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family at a Viewing on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
May she rest in peace.
