Lynn Jay Neilson

Sep 30, 2024

1934 – 2024

Lynn Jay Neilson passed away peacefully on September 26th, 2024, to be reunited with his wife Jacqueline and many other loved ones who went before him.

Lynn was born on December 23rd, 1934. He spent most of his life in Ogden and loved recounting stories of his youth in what was then a rowdy town.

Lynn was proud of his service in the Navy during the Korean War. After returning home, having served in Hawaii, he married the love of his life, Jackie, and they spent 68 years together before her passing 3 months ago in June.

Lynn loved working for the Ogden City Waterworks, he was there 30 years, retiring as the Assistant Superintendent. After his retirement he enjoyed growing amazing gardens and woodworking. He was always generously giving away tomatoes, cucumbers, and his beautifully crafted clocks and birdhouses.

As a Grandfather, Lynn was an experience to behold! His time spent cooking in the Navy led him to create some of our still favorite comfort meals. He let us tonic and style his sparse hair and would treat us to living room music concerts playing the harmonica with the next-door neighbor on guitar.

His home was always open to everyone, and he and Jackie loved a life rich in the company of family and friends.

He is survived by his 3 children: Roxane Fernandez, Rod Neilson, and Kim Hall. He has 5 granddaughters, 7 great-grandchildren and was so happy to get to meet his brand new great-great granddaughter Valeria just last week.

Lynn was preceded in death by his 6 siblings, he spoke fondly and often about them.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Lynn’s long and full life on Wednesday Oct 2nd at 1pm for a graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd in Ogden.

In lieu of flowers, please share your memories of Lynn.

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.
