Barry Brock Chase

Sep 25, 2024

June 20, 1979 – September 5, 2024

Barry Brock Chase has departed this world, after a courageous four-year battle, in the early morning of September 5, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends.

Brock was a dearly loved son, grandson, brother, uncle, and close friend. Brock had a quick wit and personality that was hard to ignore. He delighted in regaling others with classic stories from his past, especially about his family.

Brock was a Christian who loved the Lord and relied on him through all his health trials.

Brock graduated from Mountain High in 1997 and had many technical skills. A true craftsman, Brock spent his early career learning the family trade of being a carpenter. He would later spend 17 years as a Heavy Mobile Mechanic at Hill Air Force Base.

Brock is survived by his father, Barry Sadler Chase and mother, Loura Burton Flick (Mike); siblings: Shannon Verhaal (Joe), Andy Chase, and Cory Chase (Terry), who wouldn’t be who they are today without their older brother. He also is survived by 2 nieces and 3 nephews: Hannah Verhaal, Rayna Verhaal, Benjamin Verhaal, David Verhaal, and Samuel Verhaal.

Brock was married to Sabrina Spruill on May 2, 2003, and had the opportunity and privilege to help raise Caden Chase Norris. They were later divorced.

Although Barry is his first name, we all called him Brock. He was like a rock; hard working, determined, and had a heart of gold. If Brock loved you, you knew it, especially with his big heartfelt hugs and playful banter. Brock liked all kinds of sports. He enjoyed playing the game of Cornhole, having won multiple tournaments, even though he was just doing what came naturally, hanging out with friends and having fun. He loved a good joke and always made us laugh, even during the hardest trials of his life.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Washington Heights Church on Saturday, September 28, 2024. A family visitation will be held at 11 a.m. followed by the service at 12 p.m.
