Marinda Jardine Swenson

Sep 17, 2024

June 15, 1924 — September 12, 2024

There are angels walking among us but one less today than yesterday.

Thursday, September 12, 2024, on a beautiful fall afternoon, surrounded by an abundance of love and devoted family, our cherished matriarch Marinda Jardine Swenson quietly slipped from mortal life to the heavenly place where all angels abide. Those left to mourn her passing are heartbroken but grateful for the life she led and the honor of being part of it. She taught by example, always living by the Golden Rule, and always finding good in everyone and every situation. She was a private, independent woman who rarely complained, bragged or gossiped but she could be feisty if warranted. She was the person to confide in when you needed someone to talk to; someone who could keep a secret. She had an undeniable special connection with the little ones who called her grandma, and each one knew they were her favorite. She was generous to a fault but never wanted recognition for her good deeds. Anyone who knew her was amazed at her never-ending energy, her extreme kindness, and her devotion to her family. She did not judge, and her love was unconditional.

Marinda’s mortal existence flourished 100 years. Not everyone gets an angel to live amongst them, but we did, we really, really did. Farewell for now our dear angel. Until we meet again, we know you will be waiting for us, watching from Heaven’s window, leaning from Heaven’s gate.

Marinda survived by her children, Jerrie and Hugh Denniston, Lyle Swenson, Denise and Butch Defa, Debra and Blake Burrell, and Rick and Tawny Swenson. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Warner and by many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that loved her dearly and whom she loved just as much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Swenson; grandson, Burke L. Hamby, her parents, James E. and Jayne E. Williams Jardine; her sisters, Larene Clark and Gwelda Buttars; and infant baby brother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., South Ogden.

Life will never be the same without her. We will truly miss her, but we have our treasured memories and stories that we will continue to share so that she will always be known and remembered as the amazing person she was.

Services will be live-streamed and available the day of the services by scrolling to the bottom of Marinda’s obituary page at: www.lindquistmortuary.com where condolences may also be shared.
