SHIRLEY PATRICIA COLE

Sep 6, 2024

1939-2024

Shirley Patricia Cole returned home to the arms of her loving Savior on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Shirley was born in Ogden, Utah on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1939 to Mabel R. Perry.

She grew up in Ogden, cherishing the many memories of time spent with her Grandpa and Grandma Wilson. They would take her to Lorin Farr Park and give her $1.00 which would buy 10 rides on the merry-go-round. She also loved the Ferris Wheel and attending the circus with her Grandpa.

She was a proud “Scot” graduating from Ben Lomond High School in 1957. She met her sweetheart, Marvin, in a Latin class. Shirley served as Senior Class Secretary. She remained close to many of her high school friends and enjoyed attending/organizing class reunions.

Shirley and Marvin were married May 23, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage. They were blessed with four children, one son and three daughters. They raised their family in North Ogden, in a home that Marvin helped to build.

She worked at IRS until her retirement. Shirley and Marvin eventually moved to Perry, Utah. Shirley had a knack for making dear friends wherever she went.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, but her favorite was working with the Primary children. She served as a cub scout leader in her 70’s.

Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She found happiness in loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially loved snuggling the new babies. She enjoyed golfing, Jazz games, going to lunch with friends, traveling with family, reading a good book, crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.

In June she had her final big adventure. She traveled with her daughters on a European river cruise and was able to revisit her favorite city, Vienna.

She is survived by her children, Kirk (Teena) Cole of Temple, Oklahoma; Tammy (Tim) Kilts of Plain City; Cindy (Brent) Ballif of Bountiful; Kris (John) Estheimer of North Salt Lake. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Becky Olsen and brother, Lyle Perry.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Perry 4th Ward Chapel, 685 W. 2250 S. Perry, Utah. A viewing will take place on Monday, September 9th from 6-8pm at the church and from 9:30-10:30am prior to the service. Interment will follow at 3:00pm at the Preston City Cemetery, Preston, ID.
