Mary Kathryn Hendricks Rives, Kathy, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away from acute respiratory failure and pneumonia on August 29, 2024. She was born August 11, 1946, in Logan, Utah to William Dale Hendricks and Mary Louise Johnson. She was the second child of six. She attended North Cache High School, graduating in 1964. She then earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Utah State University. While at Utah State, she pledged as a member of the Tri Delta sorority.

After university she began her 35-year teaching career at Clearfield High School, in Clearfield, Utah. It was at Clearfield High that she met and later married Paul William Rives on June 9, 1972 in Providence, Utah. They made Roy, Utah their home. She would go on to teach in several capacities at Young Parents Alternative High School, Northridge High School, and again at Clearfield High School teaching at-risk teens. Paul and Kathy had three children. They divorced in 1992. Kathy worked at Nordstroms in the Ogden Mall until its closure in 2002. Her last several years were spent living in Syracuse, Utah.

Kathy found great joy in gardening. Her home and yard were always immaculate. She enjoyed interior design, getting her hair and nails done, hosting parties, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She loved cooking and baking with her children and grandchildren. Holidays were especially tasty with her homemade and hand decorated sugar cookies. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Roy 11th ward, where she held several callings. One of her favorites being chair of the activities committee for the Relief Society. During this time, she demonstrated many cooking classes, had table setting demonstrations, and holiday decorating exhibits.

Kathy is survived by her children Christian Paul Rives, Fruit Heights Utah; Tanisha (Ryan) Burnett, Syracuse Utah; Alisha (Jeremy) Bingham, West Haven Utah. She cherished her eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, with two more on the way. McKahl, Brinley, Lauren, Aniston, Kaeden, Breken, Maelyn, McKenzie, Paige, Sierra, Alivia, Wade, and Drew will greatly miss her. She is also survived by her siblings, Carroll (Joe) Comish, Lewiston Utah; Stephen (Pam) Hendricks, Farmington Utah; Barbara Ryan, Logan Utah; Marilyn (Monte) Williamson, Logan Utah; and David (Karren) Hendricks, Nibley Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West. Friends may visit with family on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to service on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

The burial will take place at Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 South Washington Blvd Ogden, UT.
