He was an avid skier and spent many years volunteering on the Ski Patrol at Powder Mountain Ski Resort.

After retirement, Mac and Cathy split their time between two seasonal pursuits. In the summers, they served as campground hosts at Christmas Meadows in the Uintah’s and other campgrounds along the Mirror Lake Highway. During the winter months, they both worked at Snowbasin Ski Resort. Later, Mac took on a new role as a Ranger’s Aide at Fielding Garr Ranch on Antelope Island.

Mac was a devoted Mason and took great pride in his Masonic heritage. He had a distinguished career in the fraternity, serving as Worshipful Master of Golden Spike Lodge #6 seven times. In addition to his lodge work, Mac was a Chapter Dad for the Order of DeMolay Chapter in Ogden. He also became a Shriner and performed in concerts and parades with the Shrine Band. Mac was also a member of Order of Eastern Star, where he served as Past Worthy Grand Patron of Utah in 2001/2002.
