David Walter Pratt

David Walter Pratt, passed unexpectedly on October 27, 2024 at his home in Layton, Utah. He was born November 23, 1940 in Fillmore, Utah to Dorothy and Claud H Pratt. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School and gained his bachelors and masters from University of Utah. He worked as an engineer for the Navy as a civil service worker.

December 5, 1968 he was sealed to his eternal companion, Carol L Day in the Salt Lake City Temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and served in many callings. He loved volunteering at the Bountiful Temple for many years, and served a service mission at the Kaysville Mill.

David served as a Layton City Councilman and also a member of the Layton City Planning Commission. He also volunteered at Antelope Island.

He played the clarinet and saxophone; and was a member of the marching band in high school. He enjoyed 4-wheeling, jeeping, square dancing, private airline piloting, riding horses with his daughter, riding his Harley, riding his bike, hiking, and traveling the world with his friends and beloved wife.

David is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Catherine (William) Acree; five grandchildren, Tyler (Ashlyn) Thorpe, Bret (Kori) Bergstrom, Matt (Savanah) Thorpe, Allie (Isaac) Yeates, and Ryan Cook; two great grandchildren, Maverick and Macey; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Jennifer Louise Pratt Thorpe.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at LDS Ward Chapel, 1039 East Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah. Family and friends may gather prior to services from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North, Ogden, Utah.
