Coralee Hodge McCleary

Oct 22, 2024

Coralee Hodge McCleary, age 71 of Roy, Utah passed away October 19, 2024 surrounded by her loving husband and daughters at St. George Regional Hospital after complications due to surgery.

Coralee was born July 19, 1953 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Udell and LaDean Hodge.

Coralee graduated from Bonneville High School in 1971 and then attended Weber State for 1 year of college before starting work as a stenographer at Hill Air Force Base. She was beloved by several Colonel’s and staff that she worked for and became an invaluable member of the staff. She later went on to work for C.O.S.H. Community Oriented Services for the Handicap for many years.

Coralee met the love of her life Karl at JB’s in Ogden in 1971. Upon meeting, Karl immediately knew he wanted to marry her and asked her many times over the next 3 years until she agreed. They were married March 23, 1973 at the White House in Ogden, Utah and then 1 year later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

Coralee loved LIFE! She loved spending time at her oasis in St. George, golfing, riding her bike, shopping at COSTCO daily, and making friends everywhere. Coralee loved to travel with her husband and her family, she was always planning a trip and made sure the family got to see many amazing places. Coralee was able to drag Karl all over the world including multiple cruises, trips to Europe, and they had 4 vacations planned for this coming year with their travel family.

Coralee was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One of the reasons that she didn’t accept Karl’s multiple marriage proposals was because at the time he was not a member of the church. Karl loved Coralee so much that he agreed to attend Easter Services and soon later converted to the church. From that moment on their faith was stronger, even though she went through many trials her faith only intensified.

Coralee was the most amazing mother to 3 beautiful daughters, Amy who she has now joined in Heaven after many years apart, Melissa and Kristin. Coralee and her daughters were truly best friends and enjoyed spending time together more than anything. Coralee was the best Mother-In-Law to Scott Barton and Jeremy Colter. They both fought over who was her favorite Son-in-law.

The one job that Coralee was born to be was a Grandma. She was best Grandma who spoiled and loved her 5 Grandchildren, Zackary (22) Jacob (21) Emma (14) Jaxon and Chloe Twins (12). Her whole purpose in life was to attend every band concert, football game, dance recital, piano recital, take the grandkids for adventures and teach them the love of travel and the importance of family time.

Recently Coralee spent her time designing and building her dream house with Karl in Hooper, Utah. We are grateful that the home was finished much earlier than expected and she got to spend 4 short days living there.

Preceding Coralee in death is her oldest daughter Amy. We can’t even imagine the reunion in Heaven when she saw her. Her parents Udell and Ladean, Mother and Father- in- Law William and Charlene McCleary, her good friend Dana Buxton and surrogate Father Tomy Yasuda and most spoiled and favorite child, her cat Tuffi.

Visitation will be held at the Chateau Park Ward from 9:30-11:00 am on Friday October 25th. Funeral services will be held October 25th, 2024 at 11:30 am at Chateau Park Ward 5930 S 2200 W Roy, UT 84067.

The family would like to thank the ICU Doctor’s and Nurses at St. George Regional hospital for the love and care and compassion they showed Coralee and her family during her short hospital stay.
