Marjorie Mae Remillard Bigler

August 10, 1924 — October 19, 2024

Marjorie Mae (Remillard) Bigler passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Chancellor Gardens ALH in Clearfield, Utah, at 100 years of age. She was born on August 10, 1924, in Wibaux, Montana, to Edward Steven and Lou (White) Remillard. She grew up on a nearby small ranch until the family moved to Glendive, Montana, where she spent her teen years. She left home at age 15 and took on employment in a café / bakery.

In 1940, she moved to Spokane, Washington to live with her sister Ruth while attending welding school in preparation to support the WWII War effort. In 1941, she moved to San Francisco, where she put her welding skills to work in a shipyard, building oil tankers for the war. She was a true to life “Rosy The Riveter”.

In 1943, she relocated to the Ogden area which became “the rest of her life hometown.” Here she took employment at the Army Depot on 2nd Street and then moved on to work at Hill Air Force Base as a ball bearing packer.

She left her job at Hill AFB to marry Vandus J. Bigler (who passed in 1991) and became a stay-at-home mom. They had four children, Vandus E. Bigler, Stephen J. Bigler, Glenda J. (Bigler) Braegger, and Ronald D. Bigler.

Marj, Van, and their seven children resided on a small farm in Riverdale until 1964, when the building of the I-15 freeway forced them to relocate. They moved to South Ogden where Marj lived until 2022 when she downsized and moved to Roy.

After lovingly raising her children, Marjorie went to work as a store clerk at Grand Central and stayed on when Fred Meyers took over. She loved working for both stores…but not as much as she loved working in her garden and flower beds which were proof positive that she was born with a green thumb.

Marj leaves behind a family legacy of 7 children, 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. All of whom will love her and will miss her until we are reunited.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday October 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chancellor Gardens Memory Care Facility for the care and love that they have given our Mother over the past seven months.
