Harry L Heywood

Oct 9, 2024

With his wit until the end, Harry L Heywood slipped away peacefully on the 7th of October, 2024. Born in Ogden, Utah on the 31st of May, 1955, Harry lived life to the fullest, with a sense of humor that could light up even the darkest rooms. As the ever-quotable Mark Twain once said, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started,” and Harry was never one to shy away from a new adventure or a heartfelt chuckle. Harry’s compassionate heart and generous spirit were felt by all who knew him.

Harry was a humble man who loved his family, his friends, and his girlfriend, Johnnie Frederiksen, whom he married on the 25th of April, 1975. Harry was a dedicated supervisor at Western Zirconium until his retirement in 2016. His was a life filled with hobbies, from hunting and fishing to golfing and playing softball and baseball. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a loyal member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the West Weber 2nd Ward. His love for his many nieces and nephews knew no bounds, and he was loved just as fiercely in return.

Harry is survived by his beautiful wife, Johnnie; his loving son & daughter in law, Durk and Andrea Heywood; his brother, Gary; his sister-in-law, Julie; his granddaughter, Kenzie Heywood; his grandsons Bryson (Kaitlin) Hendricks, Trevor Hendricks, Jaren McCubbin, Kaeden Posell, and Jesse Posell; and his great-grandchildren, Kashton and Remi Hendricks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Elaine Heywood; his brothers, J.C. and Alan Heywood; and his in-laws, John and Billie Frederiksen.

As we remember Harry, we invite you to share your memories and photos on his memorial page. Each picture, each story, each remembrance is a testament to the life Harry lived and the love he shared. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “It is not length of life, but depth of life.” Harry’s life was indeed deep, filled with love, laughter, and a generosity of spirit that will continue to inspire us all.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the West Weber 2nd Ward, 4100 West 900 South, Ogden, UT 84404. Viewings will be held at the church on Friday, October 11th from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday prior to the service from 10 to 10:45 am. Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
