Oct 9, 2024

October 28, 1935 — October 7, 2024

Gabriel Leon, 88, husband, dad, grandpa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 7, 2024, and went to be with his Lord and Savior.

Gabriel was born to Adolfo and Aurelia Lopez Leon on October 28, 1935, in Hesperus Colorado.

On June 3, 1962, Gabriel married the love of his life, Lillian Abeyta Leon in Ogden, UT. They were married 57 wonderful years and blessed with two children Kenneth and Danny, daughter-in-law Susan and two grandkids Amanda and Benjamin Leon, also his favorite grand dog Chancho who he loved, and thought his name was Sancho.

Gabriel served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and had wonderful stories to tell. He worked at the Defense Depot of Ogden and retired in September 1993 after 28 years.

Gabriel enjoyed his grandkids and attended most all their activities. He cared for and loved them so much. He also loved fishing, camping, traveling and the outdoors. Later in life he enjoyed working in his garden and relaxing outside. Gabriel loved his Heavenly Father, read his Bible, and prayed daily for all his family and friends. Gabriel was a member of the Assembly of God church. He currently attended the Wasatch Cowboy Church in Hooper, UT. He enjoyed the time with his church family.

When Gabriel’s wife passed, he was grateful that his son Kenneth lived with him. They both enjoyed traveling and watching NBA together on TV. He was grateful to Danny and Sue for all the assistance as he grew older. He would stop everything to drive over to help them, but it was mostly an excuse to see his grandkids.

Gabriel is survived by his children, Kenneth, Danny (Sue), grandchildren, sister Viola Gurule of Roy, brother Pete (Alfey) of West Valley City, sisters-in-laws Raye, Genevive, Rosie Leon, many nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Leon, parents Adolfo and Aurelia Leon, brothers Adolfo Jr. Alonzo, Alex, Able and brother-in-law and good friend Jerry Gurule.
