AnnaLee Hadley DeFries

Oct 7, 2024

AnnaLee Hadley DeFries, 91, of West Haven, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024. Born on June 13, 1933, AnnaLee was a beacon of love and friendship throughout her life.

AnnaLee was known for her vibrant social nature and deep commitment to her friends and family. Always the heart of her family, she ensured that gatherings were frequent and full of joy. Christmas stockings and candy day were some of her favorite traditions. Her enduring love for her late husband, Peter Lamar DeFries, was evident in every corner of her home, adorned with his photographs, keeping his memory alive. She was so proud of her four children and shared with everyone she met about their lives, families and accomplishments.

Annalee loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play ballgames. She went to so many and loved them all. As long as she could get the TV to work, she had a Jazz game on, and she enjoyed attending Weber State basketball games in person.

AnnaLee was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she participated actively her entire life. She married Peter Lamar DeFries on November 20, 1952, in the Salt Lake Temple. She and Peter were well known for being the welcoming committee for their ward. As West Haven grew and many new people moved in, they would welcome their neighbors and new members of their ward with fresh bread and jam. She served for several years with Peter, as Sister and Elder DeFries, at the Joseph Smith Memorial building at Temple Square. In her eighties she was invited to teach the young women of the ward, she was nervous about it but did great and made many new friends with the girls.

AnnaLee graduated from Weber High School in 1952. She was a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP) for 40 years. She had her “club girls” and their lunches, friendships with her nieces, cousins and many other family and friends. She was proud to be from Plain City and a Hadley, and helped plan and participated in the George & Hannah Hadley reunion. She worked every Tuesday at the Anderson (formerly Weber) Livestock Auction for 50 years and managed a myriad of tasks that comes with running a family farm.

She rarely missed her Friday hair appointment!

She is survived by her children, Diane (Jed) Benson, Douglas (Annette) DeFries, Richard DeFries, and Robert (Patti) DeFries; her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. AnnaLee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Lamar DeFries, her parents, Ezra Earl Hadley and Elizabeth McLean Hadley, all her siblings, Durland, Clyde, Isabelle, Lucille, June and LaGrand and one great grandchild, Lydia.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Windsor Chapel, 3271 West 2550 South, West Haven, Utah.
