Sammy Paul White

Sammy Paul White, affectionately known as “Sosa Baby,” was born on April 9, 1985, in Ogden, UT. He died unexpectedly in an automobile accident near Cedar City, Utah. Sammy was a dedicated son, devoted father, and loving family member, Sammy left an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. He was a man who brought life, creativity, and a hearty dose of humor to his family, friends, and community. As Maya Angelou beautifully said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Sammy made people feel loved, appreciated, and cherished.

Sammy was employed as a commercial truck driver at J and R Express, but his work didn’t define him. Instead, his zest for life, his hobbies, and his service to the community captured the essence of who he was. Sammy was an avid collector of shoes, an enthusiasm he combined with his generous spirit to donate hundreds of pairs to underprivileged youth. He was also a fervent supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Red Sox, a passion that often brought him and his loved ones together in the spirit of friendly competition and shared joy.

Beyond his love for sports, Sammy was a virtual warrior, frequently immersed in the world of video games, particularly “Call of Duty”. He had a soft spot for bling, delighting in chains, necklaces, big rings, and jewelry. A fan of the rapper Drake, Sammy’s creative side shone through his appreciation for music and his coaching role in the Ogden City youth basketball recreation league. In every aspect of his life, Sammy embodied the quote, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Sammy is survived by his Fiancé, Aprilee Hunt, son, Dakoda White, his daughters, Janessa, and Destry, mother, Kristin Sevigny; brothers, Carvin Jr. and Kenneth; sister, Destiny; and a host of family and friends, He was preceded in death by his father, Sammy White and a grandmother, Sandy Lopez.

Please join us for a Celebration of Sammy’s life at 11am on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah, 84404. Viewings will be held at the mortuary on Friday from 6-8 pm and on Saturday from 10-10:45 am.
