Audrey Kearl Draper

Oct 2, 2024

Audrey Kearl Draper passed on to join her parents and Savior on September 30, 2024.

Audrey Kearl was born September 23, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Delmas and Ruby Kearl.

Audrey grew up on a ranch west of Laketown, Utah where she enjoyed opportunities to work alongside her father in the fields and her mother in the home thus acquiring many valuable skills and character traits.

Audrey attended Utah State University where she studied elementary education and played the clarinet in the marching band. While at USU, she met her husband, Clark Reid Draper. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Temple on August 18, 1961. Audrey and Clark have six children: Elizabeth Ann Draper, Audrey Lynn Jarnagin, Rebecca Vilate Newton (Robert), Jennifer Ruby Zundel (Alan), Deborah Kae Deem (Darin), and Clark Carrson Draper (Stephanie), 24 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Audrey is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities in Primary, Cub Scouts, Young Women, Sunday school, and Relief Society. Audrey taught school at Murray Elementary in Murray, Utah before having children and spent most of her 25 years of teaching at Bates Elementary in North Ogden, Utah.

In her later years, she could be found watching her hummingbird feeders and admiring the Indian paintbrush flowers at her Cedar Ridge property in Idaho, or crocheting afghans for others while watching an Aggie basketball game on TV. She loved to cook, which included her famous tapioca pudding and “Grandma mush” (Germaid). She enjoyed interacting with her grandchildren, and she loved to hold the babies. Her hugs would envelope and love would pour out, making your woes seem insignificant. She was the biggest cheerleader for her children and grandchildren no matter the sport, activity, or career. She was the first one to tell them it was wonderful, and to keep at it.

Audrey was adored by everyone who met her. Her smile lit up every room she entered, and her laugh was contagious. She had such a fondness for life in general and for her family. Audrey was an extremely accomplished woman. She cooked, baked, canned, sewed, quilted, crocheted, read, studied, and taught. She passed much of her skills onto her children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed, but her life and love will live on through her posterity.

Audrey is preceded in death by two grandsons, Zachary Dodge and Parker Zundel, and one great grandson, Porter Child.
