Erma Beckstead Esplin
Mom always had a deep love for our Savior and a grand commitment to her covenants. She loved her family and served them and many others with dedication and compassion.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, mom served in the Primary, Relief Society and taught Teacher Development. She loved attending the temple, doing genealogy and family histories and was a diligent visiting teacher.
While raising her family, mom was a homemaker, gardened, and did anything she could to support the family including driving us to the mountains summer weekends where dad was working for the Forest Service.
When family and friends received a birthday card from her, she always wrote how much she loved and appreciated them and was glad they were part of the family.
Mom enjoyed playing the piano in a variety of settings including for church and doing sing-a-longs at local care centers and assisted living facilities (with friend Lois).
She was able to live in her home until days before she passed. She said she enjoyed her quality of life and spent her time reading and playing the piano or organ, all remarkable activities for someone with health issues especially having diabetes for over 54 years.
Mom had a dry wit and sense of humor and although she was a little old lady with gray hair and glasses, she could be full of spunk and mischievous. We will greatly miss her.
Erma is survived by her children Roger Esplin (Amy), Cathy Esplin, Bruce Esplin and two former daughter in-laws Kathleen Garza and Paige Barnard (Paul) whom she also dearly loved, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, brother Loren Beckstead (Carolyn) and sister Carolyn Spangler.
She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Butch” Esplin, daughter Annette Wilson and son David Esplin (widow Betty Esplin),
Thank you to all her loving neighbors and friends who visited and watched over her.
