Mary Ellen Duncan Meredith

Mary Ellen Duncan Meredith passed away on November 12th, 2024, due to complications arising from diabetes. Mary was born in Ogden, Utah and was the oldest daughter of Joe Lawrence Duncan and Nora Ellen Sorensen. Mary was fiercely independent throughout her life and bended her world to match her wishes. In addition to completing an active professional life as a nurse, she was an avid sewer, gardener, hostess, and all-around do-it-yourself hobbyist.

She attended Ogden High School graduating in 1954. Thereafter she graduated from the Westminster School of Nursing in 1957. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Salt Lake City, UT, Chicago, IL, Livermore, CA, and Davis County, UT. In Davis County she worked in public health for 20 years retiring as the County Nursing Director. She was a resident of Bountiful, UT, for 52 years and greatly enjoyed spending time with her many friends and associates.

Mary married Clarence Wayne Meredith on December 6, 1957, and enjoyed a loving marriage for over 58 years. She has three children, 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren with a great-great-grandchild on the way. Mary was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. Wayne and Mary were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in May 1978.

Mary will be missed by family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, three siblings Robert Joel Duncan, Richard Henry Duncan, and Marjorie Gay Duncan Phipps, and husband Wayne. She is survived by her daughter Nora Lynn (Edward) Bonner (Bountiful, UT), and sons David Wayne (Tracey) (Sandy, UT) and Douglas Duncan (Julia) (Annapolis, MD). The family thanks the medical staff at Lakeview Hospital and other facilities for their attentive care and support during Mary’s last fight with diabetes.

A visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah. A graveside service and interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery on Thursday, November 21st, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
