Joan Ketchum Bland

1939-2024

Joan Ketchum Bland, 85, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, in Ogden, Utah. Joan was Born on October 12, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Howard Meade Peterson and Virginia Mariba Ketchum, Joan led a life filled with love, dedication, and family.

Joan married Jay Monte Jorgensen in Ogden, Utah on October 31, 1959, and they shared many cherished years until his passing on August 25, 1993. Later, she found love again with Forrest Gary Bland, whom she married on May 22, 1996, also in Ogden. Together, they built a beautiful life over 28 years together.

Joan graduated from Ogden high school; Joan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked for several years as a beautician at Crestwood Care Center, where her kindness touched many. Joan loved eating out and enjoyed the thrill of yard sales, always finding treasures and making memories.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Enhabit Hospice, especially Nurse Linda Hendricks, and to the staff at Quail Meadows Memory Care for their compassionate care.

Joan was preceded in death by her mother Virginia Mariba Ketchum, father Howard Meade Peterson, brothers Gary and Robert Peterson. She is survived by her children: Scott (Lisa) Jorgensen, Craig Jorgensen, Gary (Christee) Jorgensen, along with her five stepchildren, Jeff (Laura) Bland, Scott (Susan) Bland, Kelly (Juliann) Bland, Mindy (Todd) Andanguard, Lisa (Todd) Heath, Joan was a beloved grandmother to 30 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday November 9, 2024, at 11:15 A.M. at the Harrisville 5th ward church building 250 West Elberta Dr. Pleasant View Utah, 84414, with a viewing prior to services from 10:00-11:00. There will also be a viewing Friday November 8, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden Utah, 84404 From 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
