E. Ronald Barker
Our sweet 97-year-old, Father and Grandpa, Eldis Ronald Barker peacefully passed away on November 3, 2024, at home with his family by his side. Ronald was born in Ogden on Jan 14, 1927, to Ephraim Eldis and Gladys Cannell Barker. He was the oldest child with two brothers, Jay and LaMar, and one sister, Leora Woodward. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1945.
He entered the army right after high school and served during WWII in Germany toward the end of the war.
He married Nola Mae Baker in the Salt Lake Temple on October 1, 1947. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who actively served and devoted his life to building the Lord’s kingdom having served on the high council and as Bishop of the Roy 14th Ward. Nothing was more important to him than Nola. They went everywhere together. They were inseparable, and even combined their names to “RONOLA.”
He was employed by Wonder Bread, Marquart, Roy City and retired from Parker Hannifin where he was a machinist and deburrer.
He cared for and was proud of his yard, garden, and especially loved his roses. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and making ceramics for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his six children Kevin (Karen) Barker, Rodney (Michele W) Barker, Becky (Don) Bateman, Jan (Wayne) Haws, Trudy (Craig) Day, Randy (Tracey) Barker. He has 27 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S 1900 W. Roy, and before the funeral from 12:00 -12:45 pm at the Roy 18th Ward Chapel, 5725 S 3750 W. Roy. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Interment in Roy City Cemetery.
