1949 – 2024
With love we remember the life of Owen Kay Ashbaker who was born on October 7, 1949, in Soda Springs, Idaho, and passed away on May 12, 2024. Owen grew up in Grace, Idaho before making his home in Pleasant View, Utah. He was a passionate soul, always demonstrating kindness and generosity towards all. He was devoted to his family and particularly adored his grandchildren.
Owen served as a Journeyman Lineman, Dispatcher and Safety Administrator for Rocky Mountain Power. He had been a union steward of IBEW Local 57 and on the Journeyman Lineman Examining Board. Later he was a Safety Consultant for PAR Electric. His dedication and skills were recognized on numerous occasions, reflecting his commitment to excellence and service. Apart from his professional career, Owen had a passion for woodworking and extended a helping hand to his family, neighbors, and friends. His generosity of time and service are a testament to his character that left a lasting impact on all.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Owen devoted a significant portion of his life to his faith. He served a mission in Guatemala and was involved in various callings throughout his life. His faith was a compass that guided him in his actions and decisions. As stated in the scripture, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35). Owen’s honesty, love, kindness and service to others are a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He was incredibly proud of his family and is survived by his wife Betty Young Ashbaker, and their 3 children, Mikal (Jani), Darwin (Jeanette), and Angela Ashbaker, five grandchildren, two sisters, Gloria (Eldon) Peck and Sarah Ida (Craig) Mansfield and a sister-in-law Mickie Warner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Fontella Daines Ashbaker, three brothers and a sister.

Memorial services will be held on May 20 at 11:00 at the Pleasant View Stake Center 2975 N 1000 W Pleasant View, Utah.
There will be no viewing or cortege. Family will greet friends at 10:30 at the Stake Center. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Best Friends Animal Society www.bestfriends.org.
