Judith Lynne Peterson McKee Larsen

Jun 21, 2024

1942 – 2024

Our beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Judith Peterson Larsen, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, after a year-long struggle with cancer.

Judy was born on June 17, 1942, in Uintah, Utah, the oldest daughter of Ralph Edgar and Irene Mallory Peterson, the second of five siblings. She had a tender heart for animals, particularly horses and dogs, and loved to garden.

On September 8, 1967, Judy married David Rooke McKee, whom she met while at college at BYU, in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away a few short years later, leaving her with two-year-old Amber Starr and son David Rooke McKee II on the way. As a single working mom, her profession took her to Billings, where she was introduced to her husband of 50 years, Hans John Larsen, a farmer from northeast Montana.

In Sheridan County, she met many wonderful friends and helped the local branch of the LDS church grow as one of the foundational members in the area. After getting her teaching certificate from Weber State College, she taught third and fourth grade in Outlook, Montana, from 1978 to 1980. Once her grandchildren, Stephen and Brenna McKee, were born, she split her time between Ogden and Montana so she could be a part of their lives.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest brother, Stephen, and her first husband. She is survived by her husband Hans, children Amber and Rooke and their spouses (Mark Reviea and Debi Kinsella McKee) and grandchildren, and her siblings and their spouses, Joe (Peggy) Peterson, Debbie Peterson, and Shelly Peterson (Rick) Jenkins, as well as many nieces and nephews in Ogden and Canada.

A Celebration of Life for Judy will be held at Debbie Peterson’s home from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, June 28. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support extended during Judy’s illness and passing.
