Robert (Brody) Palmer

Jun 19, 2024

How do you capture a life as colorful as that of Robert (Brody) Palmer, born September 25, 1945, in just a few paragraphs? Well, the same way Brody lived his life – with a dash of humor, a generous serving of creativity, and a sprinkling of mischief. Our beloved Brody, long-time resident of Huntsville, Utah, put down his fishing pole on June 15, 2024.

As a young man, Brody was drafted into the Army where he served his country honorably as transport truck driver in the Vietnam War. During his long career as a supervisor at W.R. White Pipe Company, he put smiles on the faces of his colleagues.

Brody was a talented artist of pottery, painting, and stained glass, as well as a master gardener and fisherman. His endearing personality spread throughout the neighborhoods of Washington Terrace, Uintah Highlands and Huntsville where he was known as the neighborhood character, secretly watering neighbors yards during the night when he noticed dry spots, and smoking meat of questionable origin for his family and friends to enjoy. Brody’s award-winning zucchini bread made him a local legend. He maintained the same level of dedication and loyalty in his church duties, serving as a Boy Scout Leader, Temple Maintenance Worker, Sunday School Secretary and Primary Teacher. In short, he was a dedicated son, father, husband, grandfather, neighbor and friend.

Brody was a man of faith, guided by the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His life was a testimony of the verse from Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” And boy, did Brody’s light shine.

His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Chris, daughters Traci, Gina, Angie and Whitney, as well as his loyal canine companion, Daisy.

He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Jamie Van Ness, parents, Arnie and Betty Jean Palmer, and sister, Merilou Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Palmer, sister Lisa Firth, children Traci Merrell, Gina Stratford (Doug Blankenship), Angie Palmer (Stuart Miller), Whitney Jean Palmer, Michela Harris (Seth), Brian Van Ness (Julie), cousin/best fishing buddy David Call, and 14 grandchildren, with one great- grandchild on the way.

Join us as we celebrate Brody’s life and his journey to the grand fishing hole in the sky on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Huntsville Chapel with a viewing from 10-11:30am followed by funeral services at 12 pm. Huntsville 2nd Ward 277 South 7400 East.

Interment, Huntsville Cemetery with Military Honors.
