Rulon Louis Passey

Jul 10, 2024

Rulon Louis Passey, a beloved husband, father, and cherished grandfather, returned home on June 29, 2024, in Plain City, UT. He was born on March 19, 1939 to Louis Passey and Lena Van Schaar. Rulon was a proud military veteran and served as an in-flight medic in the Air Force Reserves during the Vietnam War. His commitment to duty and love for his country were evident in everything he did. His voice was well known as a disc jockey for several radio stations from Brigham City to Salt Lake. His distinct voice could be heard in many advertisements, commercial products, television, and movie personalities. He was a successful agent for Farmers Insurance for over 45 years, where he made many lifelong friendships.

Rulon married his beloved wife, Gail Thompson, in the Ogden temple on July 7, 1972, after which they shared 49 wonderful years, building a life centered on love, faith, and family. They were blessed with four daughters, Stacey (Zach) Rappleye, Michelle Ferguson, Gina (Dan) Corry, and Kami (Matt) Streeper.

Rulon was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two-year mission in Iowa and continued to serve in various capacities throughout his life. His dedication as a volunteer seminary teacher for many years was particularly cherished. Throughout his life, Rulon pursued multiple interests and hobbies. These included selling real estate, fly fishing and tying, electrical work, and building and repairing things around his home. Outside of his family, Rulon's greatest passion was for HAM radio. He took the national exam and received his operator's license at just twelve years old and remained active for over 70 years. He loved the ability to speak with other HAMs from all over the world. This great man will be dearly missed by all who love him, but we take immense comfort in knowing he is reunited with his Eternal Sweetheart.
