Lavell B Larsen

February 24, 1946 — June 27, 2024

On June 27th, surrounded by his loving wife and children, Lavell B Larsen returned to his heavenly home. He was born on February 24th, 1946 in Brigham City, Utah to Wallace and Melva Braegger Larsen. As a boy he grew up on the family ranch in Park Valley working with his dad, brothers, and uncles. There he learned how to work hard and help others. Working hard and caring for and helping others became the hallmark of his life. He attended grade school in Park Valley and when it was time to go to High School, he moved to Willard to stay with his grandparents and attend Box Elder High School. He excelled on the basketball floor and enjoyed his time on the Box Elder High School basketball team. His hard work and dedication helped him consistently be the high point man. He had an incredible shot and earned the nickname “Dead Eye Larsen”. He loved the game of basketball throughout his life. He loved missionary service and after High School he accepted a call to serve in the Central States mission. The missionary spirit he gained there stayed with him throughout his life. Through friendship and kindness, he helped many friends and family members come to the gospel. He often told stories to his children and grandchildren about how fun and rewarding missionary work can be. After his mission while attending sacrament meeting with his uncle he heard a beautiful girl from Willard singing in church. He was inspired to know in that very moment that she was to be his eternal companion. He was sealed to his sweetheart Alice Nebeker on September 12, 1968 in the Logan L.D.S. temple. He was a good husband to her, always leaving her notes and little surprises. Together they were a good team. They had seven children and later their eternal family grew to include 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He provided a lifetime of service in furthering the Lord’s work here upon the earth. Serving on the High Council, as Bishop of the Willard First Ward, and as a counselor in the Willard Stake Presidency were some of the many callings that brought him great joy. He loved to serve and help people. As a bishop he gave each member of the ward a card on their birthday and the children a box of Cracker Jacks. He also served in the Ogden temple. He found joy in serving in the temple throughout his life. He especially loved going to the temple with his children and grandchildren and taking them for a square meal or a treat afterwards. He had several dear friends and genealogists that he enjoyed helping as well. Providing a good life for his family was important to him. He built a successful insurance business that provided for his family and helped others care for their families as well. He cared about his clients and was not only their agent but their friend as well. His greatest treasure on earth was his family. He loved taking them on vacation and spending quality time with each family member. Wherever he took them he always took the scenic route. His family will always treasure their time spent with him walking trails, playing sports in the backyard, golf ball hunting, traveling, going to U of U and Weber State games, and having their Dad and Grandpa at all their events cheering them on. He spent countless hours loving each child and grandchild. He was their number one fan in all that they did. He was a giant of a man that we were privileged to call our husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He was the hardest working man ever known. His passion for life and love for his family was unsurpassed. There were many baptisms performed, millions of journal pages written, thousands of golf balls collected, unmeasurable miles walked, hundreds of ball games attended, numerous friendships and a legacy that will live forever. He was an athlete, a storyteller, a passionate fan, a friend to all, and most of all a family man. We will miss his stories, his jokes, his smile, his laugh and his visits. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will forever be in our hearts. He is preceded in death by his parents, his in laws Byron and Helen Nebeker, his brother Grant, his son in law Cameron, and his grandson Jace. He is survived by his wife and children David (Sarah), Douglas (Tena), Candice (Brian), Daryl (Ashley), Allison, Janeen (Scott), and Jennie. His siblings Junior, Sharon, Dodie, and Verne. He will also be indelibly missed by his grandkids Josh (Heather) Jayden, Leah, Jesse, Destry, Austin, Adam (Haylee), Jenna, Mitchell (Jill), Brycen, Ambrie, Kamri, Lilly, Griffin, Kohl, Makenzee (Jordan), Dylan, Wyatt, Cache, Brooks, Anistyn, Stockton, Paislee, Saidee, Damian, Myah, and Zoey. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Hargis Hill Ward Chapel, 80 N. 100 W., Willard, Utah. Viewing for Lavell will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E. 200 S., Brigham City, Utah and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church.
