Charlann Rice Mead

Feb 6, 2024

OGDEN – Charlann Rice Mead entered this world on October 4, 1929 in Plain City, Utah, born into a loving family of what would become 12 children for Frederick Princess Rice and Sarah Lettie Tracy Rice. She passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024 surrounded by her loving children.

Mom was raised in a loving home, surrounded by the chaos of many children, hard work, and love. She learned much there, especially faith in a loving Father in Heaven, His Son Jesus Christ, and of the gospel of Christ. She was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mom married the love of her life, Maurice Willard Mead on September 3, 1948 in Ogden, Utah and sealed that love and family forever on July 10, 1979 in the Ogden Utah Temple. Mom was absolutely dedicated to her family. She taught us great faith, how to work, how to serve, and how to love. Mom loved dad with all her heart. She taught us how to love and be dedicated to our own spouses as we watched her take care of him in every way. He loved her equally. Mom was a pillar of faith in our family. She taught us how to pray and how to serve. She was a primary teacher, a den mother, a Relief Society president, a temple volunteer, and served God and her beloved ward in countless ways. Her faith will influence her posterity and many others until the end of time.

Charlann is survived by her children, Jeff (Jan) Mead, Greg (Karen) Mead, Gary (Lorraine) Mead, Lance Mead, Leisa (Bob) Bodily, 31 grand-children, 77 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers and sisters, daughter-in-law Lorraine Chambers Mead, and twin children Kerry Maurice and Deborah Ann Mead.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Ogden 5th Ward chapel, 4380 Orchard Avenue, Ogden, Utah. Friends may call at the ward on Friday, February 9 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. or on Saturday, February 10 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.

The family extends our thanks to the caring staff members of the Arbor Memory Care unit of Avamere Assisted Living and her hospice nurses for their dedication, love, and care for mom during the last two months.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com where a link may be found for live-streaming of the services for those who cannot attend.
